The 1927–28 Spanish Colonial Revival home of city founder Ole Hanson, designed by architect Carl Lindbom, now a nonprofit cultural center with art, music, horticulture, and lecture programming. It is city-owned and listed on the National Register of Historic Places (added December 27, 1991). A major landslide on April 27, 2023 destroyed the Ocean Terrace and Native Bowl garden and halted rail service below; a second slide occurred June 5, 2023 and the tracks reopened July 19, 2023. The city allocated $8.5 million for slope repair; indoor areas reopened by October 2024, while several outdoor gardens remain closed.
